 Dr. Mike Schwartz retired after 31 years as an officer in the United States Air Force, serving on active duty as well as in the Reserves and Air National Guard. Dr. Schwartz has also published in the methodology and design of pharmacology instruction within PA programs. He has prior experience within academia as a full professor and department chair. He taught infectious diseases, medical microbiology, pharmacokinetics and health care leadership to PharmD and Physician Assistant students. He was also the unit Director of Inter-professional Education at his previous institution. Most recently, Dr. Schwartz joined the College of Allied Health Sciences at East Carolina University in September 2018 and teaches pharmacology within the graduate Physician Assistant Program, Doctor of Physical Therapy Program as well as infectious diseases topics for the Post-Graduate Infectious Diseases Medicine Fellowship program. He also holds an appointment as Adjunct Professor within The Brody School of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases.

Areas of Interest
Dr. Schwartz’ research interests include epidemiology of caMRSA infections, operational aviation, field and shipboard medicine and defense/response to bioterrorism.
